Welcome to Ha Ha Hakuba. By using our website and services you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them before booking.

1. Acceptance of terms

By using our website and services you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy and Cancellation and Refund Policy.

2. Our service

We rent ski and snowboard equipment, subject to availability. All rentals are subject to these Terms and to any specific rental agreement you sign when the equipment is handed over.

3. Booking and payment

A booking request is not a contract. Bookings are requested through our website. Sending a request does not create a contract and does not guarantee availability. The prices shown when you send a request are indicative: we check availability by hand and confirm the equipment and the final amount to you by email.

Once we confirm your booking we will ask you to pay, either in full or as a deposit followed by a balance. Each payment has a deadline, which we give you in writing. If a payment is not made by its deadline we may cancel the booking and release the equipment to someone else — see our Cancellation and Refund Policy.

Your card. When you pay, our payment provider saves your card so that further payments on the same booking are quicker to make: the remaining balance, or an amount that falls due after your rental such as a late return or damage. If you have an account with us, the payment page also offers a tick box to keep the card for future bookings. That box is optional and unticked by default — leave it alone and the card is used only for the booking you are paying for. You can remove a kept card at any time from your account. You confirm every payment yourself; we never charge a saved card without you. See our Privacy Policy for how this is handled.

Prices may change without notice. We may decline or cancel any booking at our discretion, in which case section 8 of our Cancellation and Refund Policy applies.

4. Fitting information, and why it matters

To choose equipment and set ski binding release settings we need the name, age, height, weight, shoe size, activity and skill level of each person in your party.

Please give these accurately. Binding release settings are calculated from them. A wrong weight or an overstated skill level produces a setting that may not release when it should, or may release when it should not.

5. Equipment, use and responsibility

  • Use the equipment responsibly and in line with all safety guidance given to you.
  • You are responsible for damage, loss or theft of the equipment during the rental period.
  • Damage or loss is charged at repair or replacement cost.
  • Equipment must be returned in good condition and clean.

6. Rental period and returns

The rental period runs from the time the equipment is handed over until it is returned to us.

Late returns incur a charge, calculated per day late, which we will tell you about before charging it. Days late are counted from the day after the return was due.

7. Cancellation and refunds

Cancellations, refunds, missed payment deadlines and what happens if we cancel are covered in full by our Cancellation and Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

In short: contact us to cancel, there is no cancellation button on the site, and your booking keeps the policy that was in force on the day you made it.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ha Ha Hakuba is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the equipment or our services, including injury or loss.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

9. Your conduct

You agree not to use the website or the equipment for any unlawful or prohibited purpose. Breach may end your rental agreement and result in legal action.

10. Intellectual property

All content on this website — text, images, logos and trademarks — is our property or licensed to us, and is protected by intellectual property law. Unauthorised use is prohibited.

11. Language

This website is offered in English, 繁體中文 and 日本語. If you have an account you can choose which language we write to you in, from the account area. Where translations differ, the English version governs.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, where we operate.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms at any time, and updated versions are posted here with the date of revision. A change never affects a booking that already exists — your booking keeps the terms that were in force on the day you made it.
